1. Charles Edwin Woodrow Bean (1879-1968)

Charles Bean was an Australian war correspondent and historian. He was born in Bathurst, a major town in the Mid Western Region. Bean is best known for his work as the official historian of Australia during World War I. He played a significant role in establishing the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, which preserves and commemorates the nation's military history.

2. Ben Chifley (1885-1951)

Ben Chifley was an Australian politician and the 16th Prime Minister of Australia. He was born and raised in Bathurst. Chifley was instrumental in implementing significant post-war economic and social reforms in Australia. His government introduced measures such as nationalizing the banking sector, establishing the Department of Immigration, and providing housing assistance for war veterans.

3. James Fairfax (1933-2017)

James Fairfax was an Australian philanthropist, art collector, and former newspaper publisher. He was born in Sydney and later owned several properties in the Mid Western Region, including his renowned property "Retford Park" in Bowral. Fairfax supported numerous cultural and charity organizations and was a prominent figure in the Australian arts scene.

4. Ellie Carpenter (born 2000)

Eleanor "Ellie" Carpenter is an Australian professional soccer player who hails from Cowra, a town in the Mid Western Region. Carpenter has represented the Australian national team, the Matildas, and has achieved remarkable success at a young age. She became the youngest Australian to feature in a World Cup match when she played in the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup at the age of 15.

5. Jack Brabham (1926-2014)

John Arthur "Jack" Brabham was a renowned Australian racing driver and team owner. Born in Hurstville, New South Wales, Brabham made significant contributions to Formula One racing. He became the first Formula One driver to win the World Championship in a car bearing his own name, the Brabham team. Brabham remains the only Formula One driver to achieve this feat.

6. Sir Roden Cutler (1916-2002)

Sir Roden Cutler was a highly decorated war hero and diplomat. He was born in Manly, New South Wales, but completed his education at Kingswood College in Bathurst, located in the Mid Western Region. Cutler served in the Australian Army during World War II and was awarded the Victoria Cross for his acts of bravery in Papua New Guinea. He later served as the Governor of New South Wales from 1966 to 1981.
